Description

TheatreState is looking for a freelance Sound Artist to support a journey into politics, podcasting & content creation for young people aged 16-21 in Leeds.

The Sound Artist will support the Lead Facilitator (Tess Seddon) to work with a group of 5 young people at Chapel FM to design and record content for a podcast about their journey into politics. Content will be imagined and created by the group themselves but will likely include interviews with high-profile politicians and inspiring activists, conversations with community peers, music, poetry, spoken word and sound effects. The Sound Artist will have a track record in creating podcasts, audio work and sound design for a range of creative projects. It’s desirable, but not essential, that you will be familiar with content creation and basic video editing for social media. You will be a fun, engaging presence with excellent communication skills and experience working with young people to help them realise their ideas. You will be locally based (Leeds or commutable distance) with a valid DBS certificate or be in a position to acquire one with our support.

We’re committed to ensuring our pool of collaborators is representative of the range of participants we’re likely to be working with and therefore are particularly keen to hear from applicants who identify as any of the following:

  • Under 30

  • From a ‘lower’ socio-economic background

  • Of the Global Majority

  • LGBTQ+

  • Disabled & Neurodiverse

Please let us know if you have any access needs that require additional support with the application process

To apply, please email info@theatrestate.org with a CV and cover letter of no more than 1 side of A4, telling us a bit about yourself, what interests you about this opportunity and what makes you the right person for the role. Alternatively, send us a short video of no more than 3 minutes in length, detailing the same.

Applications close at 12noon on Wednesday 13th October and interviews will be held w/c Monday 18th October.

This is a TheatreState project in collaboration with Chapel FM and Shout Out UK. Funded by Arts Council England with support from Leeds Playhouse and Camden People’s Theatre.
